Arrived in Litein

Hello Everyone,

I have safely arrived in Kenya. The flight was long but all my connections went very smoothly so I have had a flawless journey.  My host, Gloria came to Nairobi with a driver to pick me up. It was a five hour car ride back to Litein. Along the way we passed plenty of shepherds. Mostly the shepherds were young boys but the best photo I captured was this man.

There were also quite a few baboons on the side of the road. People feed them from the road so they were coming close to the car. They didn't look overly friendly so I was sure to keep my window up.

Gloria has been incredibly hospitable. She has welcomed me into her home and is a very good cook. Yesterday was my first day at the hospital. Gloria took me around to every unit to introduce me to the staff. When I say every unit I really do mean every unit. We even visited the laundry services and maintenance departments. It will be quite the challenge for me to remember the 100 names I learned yesterday.

This is a photo of the church which is associated with the hospital. I have not been to a service yet but I am sure it will be fantastic. It is fantastically green everywhere. We are currently in the rainy season. Everything is quite beautiful.
So far I am really enjoying all the new experiences, squatty potty and bucket shower and all.
I look forward to seeing what type of work I will be able to get up to.
